Oliver's birth story, a little late....

SO, this is kinda random. I was just thinking I never posted anything about Oliver's birth story. There is always a story behind how it happened, and some how I skipped that, and I feel it should be documented somewhere.
SO here it is:

On Tuesday Morning September 21, two days after my due date, I woke up feeling awful. I knew. I woke up at 7am. I had already quite my job, so luckily i had no where to go. I just quietly got into the shower. I did not want to wake Mike up. You see we had been working NON STOP on our house. Michael was sure we would be able to finish the house in time, because baby was in no hurry to come out. Michael stayed up ALL night Monday working on the house. He just had to get as much done as he could and seeing that there was a lot of drywall that needed sanded he thought he'd do it while i was asleep, because I couldn't be there for that. Well I knew he had not slept so I was trying to hard to not wake him.... but I just couldn't take it. Around 8 maybe... I woke him up and told him I was having contractions. SERIOUSLY he almost puked. He was an instant hot mess. (I thought I was the one to be nervous...)
Since it was a Tuesday morning I waited around and called the doctors office. They called me in for a check. I hadn't been dilated at all at this point. So when I went to the office at 3pm I was only at 1cm. (that's it?!?!) So I was sent home. I tried to rest.... Michael had called in sick to work, because he was sick. He tried to nap too, because we knew it would be soon. I couldn't sleep. Finally at 11pm-12am we called the hospital and they sent us in, well it was still too soon I was only at like 2cm, maybe... I was told to walk around the floor for an hour and see if anything changed. After an hour, still nothing, so I was sent home.

At 5 or 6 am, I knew for sure it was time, this time! So we went back and the admitted me. I had a room by 6.30 or so and was given some pain meds. At first I told the nurses I did not want an epidural. They told me if I did want one I needed one Now or wait till after a c-section scheduled for 12. So I agreed and was numb by 8 or 9. I slept the whole day. That stuff knocked me out. I don.t really remember much except being SOOO sleepy, but I hadn't slept at all the day before. And note to Michael, never watch this part. I seriously almost pasted out. SO finally by 1, it think it was time to push. After the whole thing was over turns out things were moving so slow because they thought they were giving me pitocin, but they weren't ... Oh well. By 3 pm the baby was here.

I felt it all went smooth. other then Michael's all niter the night before, that may not have been the best timing. I did think it was crazy that I went from 0cm-10cm in 24hours. It seems like some people are at 3 or 4 for weeks.

Sorry this is kinda a blast from the past... or 6 months back. I think I'm just reminiscing due to my baby growing up so fast! He needs to slow down.

6 months

6 months stats:

19lbs
28 1/2 inches

He is a pretty big guy! If you look close you can see one of his two cute little teeth. He likes to bite EVERYTHING and everyone. He can already CRAWL, which seem just crazy at 6 months that he can do that already. He has started the last couple days pulling himself up to everything. He stands up on the coffee table and knocks things on the floor. He wants to walk to bad. He needs to slow down. He is growing so fast.

Next month is Micheal and I's 2 year anniversary. I'm excited we got a hotel in Columbus and are going to take Oliver swimming. My parents have agreed to keep Olive while we are there. SO I finally get a night off.

I think my mom is a little nervous. So am I Oliver still does not sleep too well. I don't know what to do with him. Hopefully he will behave for them.

We have started feeding him foods, he doesn't love the concept just yet... He is more interested in grabbing the spoon or bowl and eating it than the food on it... He loves to eat paper... especially mail and mommy's magazines. He love the remote and cell phone, which shows mommy needs to not be on her cell phone so often.

This weekend Oliver will go to his first party. His Uncle, mikes youngest brother, turns 2. I realize he is too young to realize how fun birthday parties are but still.

Okay I should go, Oliver is beating up daddy on the floor as I type. Silly boys!

Home Renovation

I never updated about our house. We bought a home in Nov 2009. We FINALLY moved in on Oct 2011, just after Oliver was born . It seemed like renovations would never end. We planed to move in my Jan of 2010, yeah we were wrong. Like many renovations once you open a wall up you find all sorts of a mess. The old owners did anything to make a job fast and easy, resulting in a need for new electrical and plumbing throughout the whole home. Luckily I married the best man in the world. He is able to do everything. He hated this house for a VERY long time, but now I think he likes it... We still have house work to do especially outside. We have big plans for the landscaping, but its been tooo cold to do anything and last summer was a mad dash to get the inside livable. We have many pictures from before, but yet to really take good afters, so soon there will be better ones to show all of our hard work. (by our I mostly mean Mikes, being pregnant I was banned from many projects). But her is a good before and after of out kitchen!

The kitchen when we bought the home, ew. On the left there was a wall full on cabinets with a small door going into a sun room that was totally useless.

Now, I painted the cabinets. Mike put in all new lighting. On the left the small counter you can see is actually a large bar with stools, opening into the new dining room. It is now one huge room instead of two small rooms. Originally the sun room was a step down which made it feel like a strange addition, now its all one level and beautiful. I love my kitchen. There is soo much space, counter and cabinets. When we move I am going to have a hard time finding a kitchen I will be okay with after this one.

So one of these days I will post pictures on the whole house. But for now I'm just thankful that it is livable and we are no longer living in a tiny smelly basement with crazy loud college kids upstairs!!!

picture update

This picture was from Christmas and I just love it! It shows just how chubby he is. Really he's a solid kid, but just so cute!

Oliver and Michael are best pals! I'm sure when Oliver is older him and daddy will have tons of projects together!

Love this little guy. He wants to be into everything. You can see it in his eyes!

5 months

I am NOT good at updating this... that is a fact. However, It seems the baby is starting to sleep earlier and now I have FREE time! All I do is baby. So nights when he goes to bed are time to catch up on my DVR. Lots of things are new with baby. He is just over 5 months old now (can you believe it? me either).

So at 5months:
He has mastered rolling, spinning on his belly, biting EVERYONE and everything, i foresee a problem with this is the very near future. He screams when strangers are in his face talking to him. He is obsessed with the dog, the dog does not feel the same... He can sit up pretty well but tends to fall over without warning. He likes to chew on my cell phone case and the remote. He wants to crawl sooo bad, he can go backward. So it will not be long before he is all over the house, we need to get the kitchen baby proofed asap! oh and as of today he officially has a tooth, you cannot see it yet but I can feel it peaking through. He seems so grown up.

So cute! Oh his 4 month stats were:

16.8 lbs- 95 percentile
27 inches - also 95 %

He is a super heavy baby. I feel like I'm working out just carrying him around the house.
